Description
Organic Herb Lemon Balm. Melissa officinalis.
An easy to grow perennial it forms a small bush giving off a wonderful lemony scent and the flowers are great for the bees, so it’s good in your orchard to attract pollinators in. Grows to about 40cms.
How to grow:
Sow a few seeds in pots on heat in March/April, can be slow to germinate. Grow on till they’re big enough to plant out in their little clumps and plant out in a warm sunny position.
Problem solving:
Pretty hardy it doesn’t suffer from anything much.
Favourite ways to eat them:
Leaves used as a herb in teas, best harvested just before flowering, or just fresh as you need it. Drunk for calming shredded nerves and improving sleep. Oil is used in aromatherapy. A traditional strewing herb.

Native to south central Europe, Iran and central Asia.
Avg contents: 200 seeds.
