Description
Organic Herb Thyme: Common. Thymus vulgaris.
A decorative perennial, hardy low shrub with aromatic leaves. Grows to about 30cms tall.
How to grow:
Sow seeds from March to June into good compost. Pot up when large enough to handle and transplant into position when plants are 5 – 6cms tall at a distance of 20cms for good ground cover. Easily propagated from cuttings.
Problem solving:
Easy to grow with no particular problems. Allow young plant to mature into second year before picking.
Favourite ways to eat them:
Amazing with your fried mushrooms, saute together lightly in good oil for about 3 minutes or until hot. Part of a bouquet garni used in caseroles, great in stock, sauces and soups. Dries and stores well.
Cultural history:
Native to southern Europe from western Mediterranean to southern Italy.
Avg contents: 250 seeds.
