Description

Organic Lettuce: Batavian. Paris de Paris. Lactuca sativa.

This Batavia lettuce is a type somewhere inbetween butterhead and iceberg lettuce. Blonde de Paris has very crispy and sweet leaves.

How to grow:
Sow seeds into modules from mid February under cover. Sow under cover up until mid July for harvest up to November. Plant out into well prepared beds after frosts have passed.
Or direct sow out in the field from April.
Keep well watered to prevent bolting. Lettuce does not like extreme heat nor frost. Takes 10 – 12 weeks to mature depending on time of year.

Problem solving:
Aphids overwinter on Ribes spp. (Blackcurrants etc.), so keeping them clean and growing your lettuce at a distance can help reduce your aphid problem. Water from underneath.

Favourite ways to eat them:
It’s good practice to wash your leaves well when eating raw. Perfect mixed with other leaves for a fresh healthy salad. I am assured by my sister that lettuce soup is delicious.

Avg contents:  200 seeds.
