This Rudbeckia flower, also known as Black-eyed Susan is originally from North America. An annual it’s really great for insects and pollinators. It looks superb in our gardens with those stunning yellow flowers. There’s nothing in Ireland that it will hybridise with, so it poses no danger to our native flora, also great as a cut flower.
These seeds are the original Rudbeckia species and not a hybrid. They are open pollinated so will come true to type. They have been produced to Demeter standard.

How to grow:
Sow seeds in modules under cover in from March to May or direct outside or in large pots in a sheltered place outside in May and June. Feed well.

Problem solving:
Being tall the wind can knock them over so you can put them somewhere sheltered or in a big bunch that’ll work well. If you feed them well you’ll get the best out of them.

Favourite ways to use them:
Flowering period July to October. Insects love them. Some moth caterpillars like them too.

Cultural history:
There are many varieties of Rudbeckia having been bred by plant enthusiasts and experts. They’re members of the daisy or Asteraceae family.
