Slender herbaceous perennial growing to 100cms tall. Tiny pinky-green flowers on tall flower stalks from a basal rosette of edible leaves.

Benefits:
A good nectar plant for insects. It has deep tap roots which bring nutrients and micro-nutrients up from the subsoil.

Habitat:
Good in grasslands and meadows, often a pioneer plant. Drought tolerant. Can grow in poor soil but prefers light soil and full sun.

Sowing guidelines:
Sow autumn or early spring into trays then plant out when large enough to handle. Or can be sown in-situ in a well weeded bed.

Cultural history:
A famine food with all parts being edible however moderation is advised. Considered medicinal and as ever, consult a professional before administering.
