An early variety with round bulbs and golden skins. An improved Dutch variety of Giant Yellow, Golden Gourmet good quality bulbs, we experienced zero bolting. Withstands drought conditions well. Grown on Debbie’s Farm in Co. Down, this crop is classified as organic standard.
How to grow:
Sow bulbs 3″ deep, so that the neck of the onion is just still showing. If you’ve a problem with birds pulling them out you may have to go a little deeper to try and make them invisible. Place 8″ apart in rows 12″ apart from December to April. Ready from July, stores well through winter.
Problem solving:
Prefers full sun and keep well watered, they do well in a fertile soil.

Shallots are famous for their superior delicate flavour.
Cultural history:
A closely related variety to onions and garlic, shallots probably originated in Central or Southwest Asia.
Weight approximately 10 bulblets per 100g.
