Description
Organic Herb Rosemary. Salva rosmarinus.
A long lived hardy evergreen perennial. Deep green narrow leaves with a long flowering season of pretty small purple flowers that are attractive to bees. Grows to 1.5m in height often falling over slightly to then grow upwards again.
How to grow:
Sow on heat in March on good compost. Germination can be slow and erratic. Pot up seedlings as they emerge into individual pots and plant out at a distance of 60cms. Also very happy in a large container. Rosemary thrives by the sea. Drought tolerant.

Easy to grow with no particular problems.
Favourite ways to eat them:
Rosemary aids digestion, and is great added to roast potatoes and roast veg.Great in stuffing. Can be added as a posy or chopped finely. You can use stems that are still soft and green, but avoid the woody ones.
Cultural history:
Native to the Mediterranean and Asia. It’s first mention by humans is in cuneiform on stone tablets as early as 5,000 BC (wikipedia).
